Am I Qualified to be a Mentor
Volunteers often worry they’re not qualified to mentor a young entrepreneur. In most cases, they are, but it’s helpful to know what we look for in our volunteer mentors and advisors:
We are looking for volunteers who…
want to be a champion for an underrepresented young entrepreneur
actively participate in building meaningful relationships in our community
want to practice inclusive mentoring and communication
are willing to be transformed by this experience!
are willing to make a time commitment. (The specific amount is up to you—just as long as you are committing to it.)

What are the top problems cited by entrepreneurs?
Need help identifying next steps.
Want to be held accountable for goals and progress.
Lack of role models.
Want help with marketing their product or service.
Don’t have anyone to bounce ideas off of.
Want help with creating a budget.
Looking for creative ways to fund their business.
Here are a few questions you can ask yourself to help determine if you’re qualified:
Do you have experience working in a corporation/SME and with business skills?
Bonus if you have any startup experience or launching new products/services!
Do you have a desire to establish meaningful relationships with underrepresented young entrepreneurs?
Are you passionate about our mission to help increase economic opportunity for all?
If the answer to the above questions is “yes,” you should sign up today to learn more about our digital mentoring program. There’s no cost to you, and no commitment to continue if it’s not a good a fit.
IMPORTANT: We don’t expect one volunteer to have all the answers - our program is designed to help entrepreneurs match with multiple people in the community to get different types of support!
